Men's Soccer drops road match with first place Geneva


BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- Three first half goals propelled first place Geneva College to a 3-0 victory over the Washington & Jefferson College men's soccer team Saturday evening under the lights in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match at Reeves Field in Beaver County. 

The loss drops the Presidents to 3-6-4 overall and 2-2-3 in conference play. The Golden Tornadoes remain unbeaten in league play as they improve to 7-0. Geneva is 10-4-1 overall. 

Carnel Kerr netted a pair of first half goals. Each of Kerr's scores were assisted by George Cottenden. They came in the 16th and 19th minutes, respectively. 

Caleb Thompson added an unassisted score shortly before halftime as the GT's took a 3-0 lead into the break. Neither team scored over the final 45 minutes. 

W&J was out-shot by a commanding 17-3 margin (8-2 shots on goal). Geneva attempted 8 of the 11 corner kicks in the match. 

Ethan Bowser (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) and Jimmy Gogol (Westminster, Md./Westminster) registered a shot apiece on goal for W&J. 

Charles Boldosser (Westminster, Md./South Carroll) made five saves in 90 minutes of action. 

The Presidents will host a pair of conference matches this coming week. The first of which takes place on Wednesday, Oct. 18 when Westminster visits Alexandre Stadium. Start time is scheduled for 8 p.m.
