WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson women's tennis team picked up its second-consecutive win Thursday when they rolled to a 9-0 win over host Waynesburg University in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match.
The Presidents swept through doubles play with relative ease.
Nidhi Pulicherla (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) and
Riley Moore (Logan, W.Va./Logan) won 8-0 at first doubles. The tandem of
Eden Ma (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) and
Lisha Chadda (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Forest Hills Eastern) produced a clean 8-0 sweep at second doubles.
Jaelyn Kennedy (Pottstown, Pa. / Pottsgrove) and
Bailey Phillips (Washington, Pa. / McGuffey) won by an 8-1 margin at third doubles.
W&J claimed each of the six singles matches in straight sets. Pulicherla (6-0, 6-0) at first singles, Moore (6-1, 6-0) at second singles and Kennedy (6-0, 6-0) at third singles. Chadda won 6-0, 6-0 at fourth singles while Ma won 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles.
Isabella Naddeo (Canonsburg, Pa./Trinity) breezed through her match at sixth singles to win 6-0, 6-0.
The win improves the Presidents to 5-3 overall and 4-2 in the PAC.
W&J heads to Grove City for a conference match on Saturday, Oct. 7. Start time is scheduled for 10 a.m.
