BERKELEY, Calif. -- The Washington & Jefferson College men's water polo team suffered a 24-14 loss to second-seeded Augustana in Saturday action at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships. The three-day event is being hosted by the University of California at Berkeley.
The Vikings held a 5-3 after the first before extending their advantage to 11-6 at halftime. The Presidents cut the deficit to 13-10 following a strong third quarter. However, Augustana put the game away with 11 goals in the fourth.
Lazar Marsenic (Park Ridge, Ill. / Maine South) and
Mitchell Rubio (Wexford, Pa. / North Allegheny) finished with three goals apiece to pace the Presidents' offensive efforts.
Chris Edwards (Bexley, Ohio / St. Charles Prep),
Aidan Johnson (Nassau, Bahamas / Windsor) and
AJ Alderman (Camp Hill, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) also added multi-goal efforts with two goals each.
Zishuo Ma (Los Alamitos, Calif. / Los Alamitos) made seven saves in goal for W&J.
The Presidents will face Penn State Behrend to conclude its season on Sunday, Nov. 19. Start time is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. PST.
