W&J and Marietta play to scoreless draw

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington and Jefferson men's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw in a non-conference matchup with visiting Marietta College Sunday afternoon in the 2023 season opener at Alexandre Stadium.

After dropping a head-to-head 3-0 to the Pioneers last year, the Red and Black were able to keep Marietta off the scoreboard Sunday. Neither team was to find the back of the net for the duration of the match, as both teams were up to the task defensively.

Junior goalkeeper Charles Boldosser (Westminster, Md. / South Carroll) recorded eight saves to post the shutout in net.

Marietta outshot W&J by a 17-8 margin over the 90 minutes of play.

Freshman Tavan Schoenberger (Elizabethtown, Pa. / Elizabethtown) had three shots to pace the Red and Black, offensively.

The Presidents will host Hiram in another nonconference match at Alexandre Stadium on Wednesday, September 6 at 7:30 p.m.
