The Series: Washington & Jefferson holds victories in 49 of the 70 all-time meetings with Geneva, and has won each of the last 18 matchups with the Golden Tornadoes. Last season, W&J secured a 45-7 victory in Beaver Falls. The last time Geneva defeated W&J was in 1983 -- the last year W&J posted a non-winning record -- and came in Beaver Falls. The Golden Tornadoes have not beaten W&J in Washington since 1973.
Notable Notes:
DYNAMIC DUO: Junior wideouts
John Peduzzi (Hilton Head, S.C./Hilton Head Christian Academy) and
Jacob Macosko (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) have produced week-in and week-out for the Red and Black. Peduzzi has snagged 27 passes for 569 yards and seven scores, while Macosko has 36 grabs for 460 yards and five touchdowns. Peduzzi's seven touchdown grabs rank eighth in D-III while his yardage total ranks fifth in the division. Macosko's yardage total ranks 18th in the nation. The two will look to keep producing against a Geneva team that has allowed a receiver to top 100 yards in three out of its five games.
POWERBALL PETRISEK: Senior running back
Owen Petrisek (Ellsworth, Pa./Bentworth) has stacked up some impressive numbers through five weeks. The Presidents' leading rusher from the 2023 season once again leads W&J with 352 yards on 52 attempts, for an average of 6.8 yards per attempt. Petrisek has found the endzone twice this season, including an 11 yard score in week four against Carnegie Mellon. Along with the touchdown, Petrisek rushed for 107 yards against the Tartans. Petrisek was able to tally 96 yards on 16 carries last week against Westminster.

PAC Defensive Player of the Week

PAC Special Teams Player of the Week

CHAIN MOVERS: The W&J offense has picked up 136 first downs through five weeks, which is second Division III behind Hope (140). On the flip side the Presidents' defense has held opponents to just 58 first downs, which is 21st in the nation. A big reason for the success at moving the chains is W&J's third down conversion rate (.509), which ranks 20th in D-III.
PUGH'S PERFECTION: Jacob Pugh (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) has gotten off to an excellent start to the 2024 season. The senior has guided W&J to a 4-1 start, due in large part to his effectiveness throwing the football. Pugh stands at or near the top of Division III in many passing categories, including third in passing touchdowns (18) and second in passing yards (1,491).
