WASHINGTON, Pa. – A pair of second-half goals were the difference in a 2-0 defeat to Chatham for the Washington & Jefferson College men's soccer team on Saturday evening.
The Presidents (4-8-1 overall, 1-3-1 PAC play) and Cougars (4-4-4 overall, 3-1-2 PAC play) went back and forth in a scoreless first half that saw Chatham outshoot W&J just 6-5.
Chatham scored the game's first goal late in the second half. The first tally was a tap in goal at the 66th minute. The Cougars struck once more in the 86
th minute of play to end the outing in a 2-0 shutout of W&J.
Jimmy Gogol (Westminster, Md./Westminster) and
Logen Mackey (McDonald, Pa./West Allegheny) both led the Presidents offensively with three shots each.
Sophomore
Graeme Ewart (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) gloved five saves in the 90 minutes he spent in goal for the Presidents.
The Presidents face off against Saint Vincent next on the road. The contest is slated for Tuesday (Oct. 15) at 7:30 p.m.
