LATROBE, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson men's soccer team prevailed in a 1-0 shutout victory over the hosting Saint Vincent Bearcats, Tuesday evening.
The Presidents lift their record to 5-8-1 with a 2-3-1 mark in PAC play.
Following a neck and neck start the first thirty minutes of play, freshman Zach Casey (Glen Allen, Va./Deep Run) netted his first collegiate goal off a corner kick in the 32nd minute of play to take the lead for the Presidents. The lead held into the half as both teams continued to put up shots in the final 14 minutes of play to no avail.
W&J held off the Bearcats for the remaining half of the game to keep their shutout intact. The Presidents held the advantage in shots (15-11) and corner kicks (7-3) throughout the game.
Sophomore Graeme Ewart (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) gloved five saves in the 90 minutes he spent in goal.
W&J will hit their home pitch this weekend, hosting Thiel on Saturday (Oct.19). Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
