WASHINGTON, Pa. – Goals by
Jimmy Gogol (Westminster, Md./Westminster) and Senior
Gannon Ryan (McAlisterville, Pa./ East Juniata) boosted the Presidents to a 2-0 victory over the Thiel Tomcats on senior recognition day Saturday (Oct. 19).
The win gives W&J a 6-8-1 overall record and a 3-3-1 mark in the PAC play.
Neither team was able to score in the first half of play with Thiel having outshot W&J 7-4. The Presidents held the advantage in corner kicks, 5-1.
W&J picked up the slack in the second half, outshooting the Tomcats 11-6 and continuing to hold their advantage in corner kicks (4-1) through the second 45 minutes of play.
W&J found their first goal at the 52:40 mark off of the foot of Gogol on an unassisted effort, giving the Presidents a 1-0 lead.
Senior forward Ryan sealed the deal for W&J, netting an insurance goal and the first of his career in the 67
th minute of play. The score was a fitting occurrence on the team's senior recognition day.

Tyler Haczela (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) got the start in net, making four saves in one half of play. Senior
Charles Boldosser (Westminster, Md./South Carroll) recorded three saves and closed out the second half of the match in goal for the Presidents.
W&J heads to West Virginia on Wednesday (Oct. 23), for a Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup against the Bethany Bison. The game is slated to begin at 4:30 p.m.
