Presidents Bested by Bison, 1-0

BETHANY, W. Va.– Bethany scored the lone goal of the game in the second minute of the second half to claim a 1-0 shutout victory over the Washington & Jefferson men's soccer team Wednesday evening.

Early onset offensive pressure was the name of the game for both units in the first 45 minutes of play, loading up for a total of 22 total shots in the first half. Both units' offensive attempts were held at bay by each backline to enter the half tied 0-0.

Quickly exiting halftime, the Bison logged the first and only goal of the game to gain a 1-0 lead. Despite putting up 14 shots in the the remainder of the half, W&J couldn't find the back of the net to negate Bethany's 1-0 leg up.

Bethany rode the slim 1-0 lead until the final buzzer where the Presidents would pick up the loss ending their two-game win streak.

The Presidents outshot the Bison 24-19 overall, but Bethany had the upper hand in shots on goal, 13-8. Bethany also held the advantage in corner kicks, 5-3.

Senior keeper Charles Boldosser (Westminster, Md./South Carroll) and Sophomore keeper Graeme Ewart (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) split time in the outing for the Presidents. Boldosser logged time in goal for the first half of play tallying six saves. Ewart followed up for the last half of the outing recording five saves of his own.

The Presidents return to their home pitch on Saturday (Oct. 26) for a conference showdown against Grove City at 3 p.m.
