Women's Soccer Battles to 1-1 Tie with Chatham

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington and Jefferson Women's Soccer team fought to a 1-1 draw with Presidents' Athletic Conference competitor Chatham University.

The Cougars were first in finding the scoring column with a goal netted in the 33rd minute of play to get their initial 1-0 leg up. The Cougars held their lead through the final 12-minutes of play in the first half.

Neither side would find the back of the net until Junior Audrey Chapman (Elkins Park, Pa./Phil-Mont Christian Academy) blasted a shot past the Cougars goalie in the 66th minute to level the playing field once again, 1-1.

Chapmans' goal was the final one of the game as both teams kept the other from scoring for the remainder of the bout.

The Cougars outshot the Presidents 15-13 (11-5 on goal). Both teams had equal opportunity in corner kicks, 3-3.

Molly Schoch (Burgettstown, Pa./ Burgettstown) charted her third 10-save outing of the season in net for the Red & Black in a full 90-minute effort.

The Presidents face off against Saint Vincent next on the road. The contest is slated for Tuesday (Oct. 15) at 5:00 p.m.
