WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson men's water polo team finished winless in a pair of games on day two of the weekend action at Henry Memorial Natatorium.
Austin 10, W&J 8
W&J jumped out to a 3-1 lead after the first quarter with goals by
Dillon Parker (Nipomo, Calif./Central Coast New Tech),
Kailer Spicer (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) and
Aidan Miller (Grove City, Ohio/St. Charles Prep).
Goals by Parker and
Joseph Aranda (Albuquerque, N.M./Menaul School) helped the Presidents maintain their slim 5-4 lead in the second.
The Kangaroos posted their best quarter of the game, generating four goals while shutting out the Presidents in the third quarter.
Austin maintained the lead for the remainder of the bout, adding two goals to the Presidents three to close out the match, 10-8. Parker and Miller led the team in goals with three on the outing.
Penn State Behrend 13, W&J 10
The Lions jumped out to a quick 4-1 lead in the first quarter of the second matchup of the day for the Presidents. W&J responded with a two-goal second quarter to bring the score to 8-4 before the half. Spicer headed the Presidents early scoring efforts with three goals.
W&J opened the second half with a four-goal third quarter. Four Presidents contributed to the scoring including
Timothy Deutsch (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton),
Hector Santaella (Key Biscayne, Fla./Belen Jesuit Prep),
Parker Elliott (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) and Spicer.
The Lions managed to maintain their lead throughout the remainder of the matchup to take the 13-10 victory. Spicer logged both of the Presidents fourth quarter goals during the team's late comeback attempt.
