Four Presidents Net Goals in Win over Thiel, 4-0

WASHINGTON Pa.- Four different Presidents tallied goals as the Washington & Jefferson women's soccer team took down the Tomcats 4-0 during the team's senior recognition day matchup, Saturday afternoon.

W&J broke into the scoring column in the 22nd minute of play on a goal by senior Skylar Bibbee (Fairfax, Va./Chantilly) assisted by Peyton Behling (Annapolis, Md./Severn School).

The Presidents second strike came ten minutes later off the foot of freshman Alexa Taylor (Aliquippa, Pa./OLSH). A shot from Bibbee to the bottom right corner of the net deflected off the goalie at the perfect angle for Taylor to send her shot to the back of the net rapidly following the previous shot.

The goals by Bibbee and Taylor put W&J up 2-0 heading into the half.

W&J continued their scoring barrage in the second half as junior Audrey Chapman (Elkins Park, Pa./Phil-Mont Christian Academy) blasted the ball past the Tomcats goalie off an assist from senior Sydney Hoover (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township).

The Presidents elevated their lead once more in the final second of the game as Dove Corrette-Bennett (New Castle, Pa./Neshannock) netted the final tally of the game assisted by Kendall Obley (Buena Vista, Pa./McKeesport) at the 89:55 mark.

The team's depth was on full display as a member from each class netted a goal in the contest. The team play contributed to W&J collectively fired 49 shots off, 25 of which were on target, outshooting their opponents 49-3. The Red & Black had their fair share of corner kicks as well, totaling nine compared to the Tomcats' two.

Kalea Umali (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) got the start on the game, making one save in 12:43. Molly Schoch (Burgettstown, Pa./Burgettstown) tallied the final 77:17 in goal for the Presidents.
