Volleyball Completes Ninth Sweep of the Season Against Waynesburg

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College women's volleyball team completed a successful sweep of Presidents' Athletic Conference Foe Waynesburg, 3-0.
 
W&J moves to 13-12 overall and 4-4 in PAC on the season.
 
Both sides opened the match with even offensive pressure, with neither side able to maintain the lead. Rian Benz (Strongsville, Ohio/Holy Name) sparked the first four-point swing of the matchup with a kill that set up the Presidents with a 15-11 lead. Faith Fetsko (Venetia, Pa./South Park) logged consecutive kills energize the W&J offense, growing the W&J to 19-13. Back-to-back kills by Sophie Little (Marysville, Ohio/Fairbanks) handed the Presidents' the first set victory, 25-20.
 
The Presidents jumped out to an early 10-4 lead in the second set due to their consistent offensive attack. Fetsko tallied to kills in a four point swing in the Presidents' favor to snap a Waynesburg scoring barrage, 16-11. The Presidents managed their largest margin of victory shortly after, taking the second set with a score of 25-14.
 
W&J started out on an offensive hot streak in the third, opening the set with a 4-0 lead. The lead quickly spiraled into a double-digit Presidents' lead, 18-8. W&J closed out the final set of the match with four-straight points, 25-12.
 
Little led the Presidents in kills with 12 followed by Benz with eight. Brielle Moorhouse (East Liberty, Ohio/Benjamin Logan) led the W&J setting room with 17 assists coupled with 13 assists from Adrianna Sacramento (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills).
 
Piper McFarland (West Mifflin, Pa./Cornerstone Preparatory Academy) headed the team's defensive efforts with 24 digs. Sacramento also tacked on 13 digs to post the Presidents' sole double-double on the night. Little led the team in blocks with six.
 
W&J enters West Virginia this weekend as they face off with Bethany, Saturday (Nov. 2). The match has a scheduled opening serve of 11:00 a.m.
