WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson men's lacrosse team fell by a 20-2 score to visiting Marietta College Wednesday evening in non-conference action at Alexandre Stadium.
The Pioneers improve to 3-2 with the win. The Presidents are now 1-4 overall in 2024.
The two teams played through more than 13 scoreless minutes before a pair of Marietta goals in the final 1:41 gave the visitors a 2-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The visitors dominated the second quarter. Marietta scored 10 times to swell its lead to 12-1 by halftime.
Marietta outscored W&J by an 8-1 margin over the final 30 minutes to finish off the victory.
Zach Mey (Bridgeville, Pa. / South Fayette) and Aidan Herman (West End, N.C. / Pinecrest) both scored in the loss. Herman and
Paul Shook (Camp Hill, Pa. / Trinity) added an assist apiece for the Red and Black.
Henry Beardwood (Wilmington, Del. / Salesianum School) and
John Novoselich (Cornwall on Hudson, N.Y. / James I. Oneill) split time in goal Wednesday. Beardwood recorded 10 saves during the opening half of play. Novoselich notched 11 saves over the final 30 minutes.
