WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College men's tennis team secured their second consecutive conference win after their 9-0 victory against Thiel College Tuesday evening at the Janet Swanson Tennis Center.
The Presidents came out of the gates strong and established a dominant 3-0 lead after doubles play. Sophomores
Nate Clarke (New Kensington, Pa. / Valley) and
Connor Simms (Canonsburg, Pa. / Canon-McMillan) teamed up at third doubles by winning their eight-game pro set without giving up a game.
W&J swept through singles play with relative ease. The Presidents picked up a win by retirement at first singles. At fifth singles,
Nick Bussard (New Kensington, Pa. / Valley) cruised to a victory in straight sets with a score of 6-0, 6-0.
The Presidents improve to 2-2 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference and 5-7 overall. The Tomcats drop to 0-2 in the PAC and 1-3 overall.
W&J will continue conference play by hosting reigning Presidents' Athletic Conference champion Allegheny on Thursday, April 11 at 4 p.m. at the Janet Swanson Tennis Center.
