BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- Washington & Jefferson College sophomore
Connor Simms (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) played a part in a pair of pivotal wins to lift the men's tennis team to a 5-4 win over host Geneva College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match Saturday evening.
Simms clinched the match for the Presidents with his straight-set victory at sixth singles. Simms secured the win with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Nick Heidengren.
Earlier in the day, Simms teamed with
Nate Clarke (New Kensington, Pa./Valley) to win 8-7 (7-3) at third doubles.
Abhinav Yarramaneni (Mountain View, Calif./Los Altos) and
Nick Bussard (New Kensington, Pa. Valley) picked up an 8-3 victory at second doubles.
Yarramaneni won in straight sets over David Clark, 6-2, 6-3, at third singles.
At second singles,
Alex Duing (South Park, Pa./South Park) won by a 6-1, 6-2 score over Jadon Hooke.
The Presidents continue their season by hosting PAC rival Allegheny in a conference matchup on Sunday, April 14 at 3:00 p.m. at the Janet Swanson Tennis Center.
