Men’s Tennis Sweeps Pitt-Greensburg to Open Fall Schedule

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College men's tennis team (1-0) opened their 2026 fall slate with a 7-0 sweep over the Pitt-Greensburg Bobcats (0-1).
 
The Presidents got off to a great start, opening partnered play with a sweep to attain the first team point of the afternoon, 1-0. Srivatsa Bellamkonda (Sewickley, Pa./North Allegheny) and Jonah Jasek (South Park, Pa./South Park) picked up a 6-0 victory at No. 1 doubles. The tandem of Jacob Bennett (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington Central) and Steven Duing (South Park, Pa./South Park) collected a 6-0 sweep at No. 2 doubles for W&J. The duo of Colby Peters (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock Township) and Nick Bussard (New Kensington, Pa./Valley) capped off the doubles matches with a 6-1 win at the No. 3 slot.
 
The Presidents took their positive momentum into individual play with six additional wins to sweep the Bobcats, 7-0. Jasek won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Bennett flipped the score during his No. 2 singles victory, winning 6-1, 6-0. Duing, Peters and Bussard each collected 6-0, 6-0 victories at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 singles. Bellamkonda capped off the wins for the Presidents with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 5 singles.
 
W&J returns to the courts during their shortened fall schedule this Saturday (Sept. 12) at the Allegheny Invitational. The invitational hosted by Presidents' Athletic Conference foe, Allegheny College, will be a two-day event.
