Box Score BEREA, Ohio – The Washington & Jefferson College men's tennis team (1-1) dropped its final match of the fall slate to the Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets (1-0), 6-1.
 
The Yellow Jackets opened up the match, capturing the doubles point with two wins, 1-0. W&J's sole victory in partnered play came at No. 3 doubles. Colby Peters (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock Township) and Nick Bussard (New Kensington, Pa./Valley) picked up a 7-5 win at the third doubles slot.
 
The Presidents avoided a sweep in singles play but ultimately fell in five of the six individual matches. Bussard continued his strong day, granting the Presidents their sole team point of the afternoon at No. 6 singles with a 7-6 (4), 6-3 win. Srivatsa Bellamkonda (Sewickley, Pa./North Allegheny) dropped a competitive three set No. 5 singles match. Bellamkonda traded the opening sets, 7-5, 3-6 prior to dropping the match tiebreaker 1-0 (10-6).
 
Jonah Jasek (South Park, Pa./South Park) fell at No. 1 singles by a verdict of 6-2, 6-1. Jacob Bennett (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington Central) competed at No. 2 singles and lost 6-2, 6-3. Freshman Steven Duing (South Park, Pa./South Park) hung around at No. 3 singles before dropping a 6-3, 6-4 final. Rounding out the singles matches was Peters who took four games in each set before being upended in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.
 
The W&J men's tennis team will look to return to the courts in the spring.
