MARIETTA, Ohio – The Washington & Jefferson men's soccer team completed their season opener in Ohio against the Marietta Pioneers this Sunday. The Presidents were in the opener downed by a score of 1-0.
Early onset offensive pressure was the name of the game for both units in the first period of play, loading up for a total of 14 total shots in the first half. Both units' offensive attempts were held at bay by each backline, tied at the half, 0-0.
Quickly exiting halftime, the Pioneers logged the first goal of the game allowing Marietta to take a rapid 1-0 lead. For the remainder of the match, W&J couldn't find consistency on the offensive side of the pitch as they were limited to just one shot in the final half of play.
Marietta would ride the slim 1-0 lead until the final buzzer where the Presidents would pick up their first loss of the season.

Graeme Ewart (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) both split time in goal for W&J in the opener. Boldosser started the first 45, racking up two saves. Ewart started the second half, adding two saves as well.
The Presidents will remain on the road with a quickly approaching midweek matchup against Hiram on Wednesday. The matchup has a scheduled start time of 7:30 p.m.
