Presidents Falter in 3-0 Loss to Carnegie Mellon

Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson Men's Soccer team's short win streak was tarnished by the Tartans Wednesday night in an on the road non-conference matchup.

Carnegie Mellon came out strong offensively putting up five shots followed by a goal on the sixth shot before W&J got their first and only shot of the half off from Jimmy Gogol (Westminster, Md./Westminster) at the 20:16 mark.

The Tartans got four more shots in the air by the end of the first 45 minutes while holding off the Presidents by keeping offensive possession for most of the half heading into the second with a 1-0 lead.

A lack of shots from the Red & Black coupled with two goals by CMU in the second half would secure the 3-0 win for the Tartans.

CMU out shot W&J 19-3 (8-0 on goal) and dominated the advantage in corner kicks 8-0.

Gogol accounted for two of the Presidents three shots with Justin Parker Wyatt (Coatesville, Pa./Unionville) putting up the other.

Charles Boldosser (Westminster, Md./South Carroll) recorded 81:33 in the net for the Red & Black before Graeme Ewart (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) took over for the remaining 8:27 of the game.

W&J will be on the road again next game at Penn State Harrisburg. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 pm on Saturday (Sept. 14) in Middletown, Pa.
