W&J Downed in Weekend Action Against Penn State Harrisburg

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – The Washington and Jefferson men's soccer team capped off their weekend trip out east this Saturday, resulting in a 2-0 loss.

Two penalty kick goals would be the difference for the Lions as they edged the Presidents 2-0.

The loss drops the Presidents to a 2-3 overall record while the Lions uplift to a 3-2-1 overall record.

With a lack of shots coming from the Presidents in the first half, their only attempt would be a header from Sophomore Justin Parker Wyatt (Coatesville, Pa./Unionville). The Lions put up ten shots in the first half, one of which was a penalty kick that would find its mark at the 22:11 mark putting the Lions up 1-0 heading into the second half.

The Lions held the 1-0 lead until they were able to capitalize on yet another penalty kick in the 87th minute, just three minutes before the closing of the contest to claim a 2-0 lead.

Wyatt led the offensive with four of the Red & Black's five shots. Logen Mackey (McDonald, Pa./West Allegheny) was responsible for the other shot by W&J.

Charles Boldosser (Westminster, Md./South Carroll) and Graeme Ewart (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) split time in the net for the Presidents. Boldosser logged time in goal for the first half of play followed up by Ewart for the last 45 minutes of play. Boldosser saved six shots that came his way while Ewart fended off three shots of his own.

W&J will face off with the La Roche Redhawks next at Alexandre Stadium on Wednesday (Sept.18). Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
