NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Washington & Jefferson College track & field teams opened their 2025 slate at the Muskie Meet #1. The W&J men finished 10^th while the W&J women placed tied for 13^th.
 
Heading the efforts for the men was Nick DeSanto (Erie, Pa./McDowell) who placed second in the high jump with a top height of 1.85 meters (6' 0.75").
 
Anthony Cestaro III (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers) took two top finishes for W&J in the short and mid distance races. In the 400-meter dash, Cestaro III paced his way to a fifth-place finish with a time of 52.23. In the 60-meter dash, he logged a sixth-place finish in the preliminary round to advance to the finals with a mark of 7.15.
 
Following up in the mid-distance events, Ethan Coble (California, Pa./California Area) took third place in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:14.55.
 
The women were led by junior Sarah Schneider (Warren, Ohio/Lordstown) who both jumped to two top finishes for the Presidents. In the long jump, she logged an eighth-place finish with a distance of 4.76 meters (15' 7.50"). In the 60-meter hurdles, Schneider narrowly missed the qualifying finish, taking ninth in the preliminary round with a mark of 9.84.
 
Dual-sport athlete Alyssa Trn (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg Area) logged a productive day on the track with a top 20 finish in the jump events. Trn finished 18^th in the high jump with a height of 1.35 meters (4' 5"). She also raced to a 28^th-place mark in the 60-meter dash during the preliminary round with a time of 8.95.
 
The Presidents return to Muskingum on Saturday (Jan. 25) to square off at the Muskie Meet #2.
