NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson college track & field teams concluded action at the Westminster Invitational hosted by Westminster College.
 
The W&J men were led by Shaun Walker (Washington, Pa./Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter) who raced his way to second place in the 10,000-meter run with a new personal-best time of 33:31.70.
 
Alex Maslo (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) posted a fourth-place finish in the triple jump with a top leap of 12.95 meters (42' 5.75").
 
Daniel Deal (Butler, Pa./Knoch) also placed in the top 10 with a time of 10:08.55 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Fellow senior Jake Sinclair (Beallsville, Pa./Beth-Center) finished eighth in the 1,500-meter run with a mark of 4:12.73.
 
Tavan Schoenberger (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) headed the Presidents' efforts in the jumps, finishing ninth in the long jump with a distance of 6.16 meters (20' 2.50"). Sinclair also finished 25^th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.76.
 
Sarah Schneider (Warren, Ohio/Lordstown) headed the W&J women with a third-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.41. The junior also took 16^th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.22. Lainey Hartner (Washington, Pa./Fort Cherry) led the Presidents in the 400-meter hurdles in ninth with a mark of 1:10.89.
 
Marina Grado (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) took seventh in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.49. She also finished 23^rd in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.41.
 
Katie Kovalchick (Shelocta, Pa./Indiana Area) spearheaded the throwing events. Her top finish came in the javelin throw with a best throw of 34.66 meters (113' 9"). Kovalchick also finished 17^th in the shot put with a heave of 10.69 meters (35' 0.75") and 23^rd in the discuss throw with a toss of 29.08 meters (95' 5").
 
A portion of the W&J track & field team will continue action at the Bison Outdoor Classic, Sunday (April 13). First events are scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m.
