Men's Soccer Falls to Franciscan During PAC Home Stand

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson men's soccer team (4-4-2, 0-2-1) fell to the Franciscan Barons (5-6-0, 3-0-0) 2-0 during the second game of their Presidents' Athletic Conference home stand.

The Barons started the match on the offensive front foot. Franciscan opened the scoring from an own goal by the Presidents off a corner kick scrum in the penalty area.  The Barons followed it up with a second goal in the 33rd minute, which held into the halftime interval.  The shots were 2-1 in favor of the Barons.

Both teams had three shots apiece in the second half, with one going on target.  The Presidents' defensive backline held up to make sure that the Barons could not extend their lead.

In goal, junior Graeme Ewart (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) and freshman Logan Joseph (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) each saw one half of action.  Both goalkeepers made one save each.

The Presidents continue their PAC home stand on Saturday (Oct. 4) when they host the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets.  Kickoff is slated for 3:00 p.m. with the senior recognition ceremony beforehand.
