WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College women's soccer team (4-5-1, 1-1-1) continued their Presidents' Athletic Conference home stand with a 1-1 draw against the Franciscan Barons (1-6-2, 0-1-2).
The Presidents played had a strong defensive line throughout the contest. Even with the Barons controlling possession, W&J only allowed one shot on target out of nine attempts in the first half. The contest went into the halftime break in a scoreless deadlock, 0-0.
The Presidents kept the pressure up in the second half. The Red & Black forced a turnover in their offensive penalty area which allowed junior
Dove Corrette-Bennett (New Castle, Pa./Neshannock) to bury the chance for her third goal of the season to give the Presidents the lead, 1-0. Senior
Camille Smith (Canton, Ohio/Lake) saved a goal off a Barons corner kick set piece. The Barons got their equalizer in the final seconds of the contest off a penalty kick.

Gianna Patterson (Fox Chapel, Pa./Fox Chapel) made her third start and had one save in the contest.
The Presidents continue their PAC home stand on Saturday (Oct. 4) when they host the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m. with the senior recognition ceremony beforehand.
