WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College women's soccer team (4-5-2, 1-1-2) fought to the very end during the senior recognition game to secure a 2-2 draw against the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets (8-1-2, 2-0-2).
The Presidents started strong as freshman
Rylin Bugosh (Mount Pleasant, Pa./Mount Pleasant) opened the scoring with her second goal of the season off an assist by fellow freshman
Katelyn Burley (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills). The Presidents found the offensive stride they needed early, but the Yellow Jackets equalized shortly before halftime. The 1-1 deadlock was taken into the halftime interval. Waynesburg was ahead 10-5 on shots and 4-1 on corner kicks.
The Yellow Jackets found a second goal off a corner kick in the 81
st minute to take the lead. Bugosh netted her second goal of the game and third of the season in the 89
th minute to secure a draw, 2-2. Bugosh's second goal was off an assist by sophomore
Kara Day (Clairton, Pa./Thomas Jefferson).
Junior
Molly Schoch (Burgettstown, Pa./Burgettstown) played all 90 minutes in goal. She made five saves throughout the contest.
The Presidents will return on Wednesday (Oct. 8) when they hit the road to face the Allegheny Gators. Kickoff from Meadville will be at 7:00 p.m.
