PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College men's soccer team (6-5-2, 2-3-1) dropped a Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup on the road to the Chatham Cougars (3-7-4, 1-2-3) by a score of 3-0.
The Cougars opened the Friday night contest with an early goal in the 14
th minute to head into the halftime break, up 1-0. Despite the deficit, W&J held stalemates in shots (4-4) and corner kicks (2-2) with Chatham.
Chatham chipped in another early in the half goal to open the second half with a goal in the 48
th minute. With a 2-0 advantage heading into the closing minutes, the Cougars added another goal to reach the final 3-0 score.
Jacek Piekut (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) led the team in shots on goal with two on the night.
Jimmy Gogol (Westminster, Md./Westminster),
Tavan Schoenberger (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) and
Owen Rowlands (Hazle Township, Pa./Wyoming Seminary Prep) also put shots on target.
Graeme Ewart (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) played all 90 minutes in goal and tallied seven saves.
W&J returns to its home turf to face the Saint Vincent Bearcats on Wednesday (Oct. 15). Play is scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. start.
