Men’s Soccer Upended by the Bearcats

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College men's soccer team (6-6-2, 2-4-1) fell 1-0 in a Presidents' Athletic Conference clash to the Saint Vincent Bearcats (9-2-3, 4-1-2).

It was a closely contested contest in the first half, with little separation between the two teams. The Presidents looked to strike in the first ten minutes but were denied by the crossbar. The match went into the locker room scoreless, 0-0. Each team had six shots, and W&J had a 4-1 advantage on corner kicks.

The Bearcats started to pull away in the second half. Saint Vincent got the lone goal in the 65th minute. The Bearcats tried to pull away, but the Presidents' defensive line held strong as senior captain Nathan Lomago (Mars, Pa./Eden Christian Academy) made a defensive save to keep the game a one-goal advantage.

Junior Graeme Ewart (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) and freshman Logan Joseph (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) each played one half in goal in this match. Ewart made two saves in the first half, and Joseph made five saves in the second half.

The Presidents look to regroup on Saturday (Oct. 18) when they travel to take on the Thiel Tomcats. Kickoff from Greenville will be at 2:30 p.m.
