THE SERIES: The Washington & Jefferson Presidents face off against Saint Vincent for the 17th time on the gridiron. The series dates back to the modern era of football for the Bearcats (2007 to present). The Presidents have won 15 of the 16 all-time meetings. W&J extended its series win streak to 11 games with a 59-6 win in last season's opener. The lone Saint Vincent win came in the 2011 season in Latrobe, a 35-27 victory at Chuck Noll Field. W&J has crossed the 50-point threshold in four consecutive bouts with Saint Vincent. This includes a 51-0 shutout in the 2023 season opener, the last time the squads battled in Latrobe.

RICH TRADITION: The Washington & Jefferson football program has won 793 games in its 132-year history (793–407–40), ranking third among NCAA Division III schools behind Mount Union (873) and Wittenberg (807). Widener (734) and Wabash (730) round out the D-III top five. Across all NCAA divisions, the Presidents' win total places them 22nd all-time.

ONWARD OCTOBER: W&J has enjoyed consistent success in October under Mike Sirianni, going 73-16 (.820) in the month since 2003.

W&J VS. THE PAC: The Presidents have claimed 27 PAC championships—the most in league history and more than the next three programs combined. Former members Carnegie Mellon (10), John Carroll (8), and Thomas More (8) trail behind. Among current PAC programs, Allegheny, Bethany, and Grove City each hold four titles. W&J also maintains a winning record against every current PAC opponent:

HALFWAY HOME: W&J has thrived under Mike Sirianni when leading at halftime, posting a 155–6 record (.963) in such games

STAHL-WART SENIOR: Senior quarterback Kellan Stahl (Johnstown, Pa./Richland) was able to compile another solid performance in the week six matchup against Westminster. Stahl went 22-31 for 321 yards and a score through the air. Stahl also ran for a score to give W&J a three-score lead in the second quarter. The senior signal-caller has thrown for over 250 yards in each of the Presidents' five games this season. His average of 307.2 yards through the air per game ranks 11th in Division III.

BALL HAWKS: Sophomore defensive back Dante DeRubbo (Washington, Pa./Trinity) has thrived in his first season as a starter in the W&J defense. In weeks four and five, DeRubbo recorded two interceptions in each game, becoming the first President defender to do so since the 2006 season. In last week's game against Westminster, he recorded a pick for the third straight week, and rounded his total to five, which is tied for tops in the nation. Senior corner Angelo Volomino (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) has recorded three picks, which marks his career high in a single season. The unit has 10 interceptions as a whole, which has them tied for seventh in Division III.

DYNAMIC DUO: Senior wideouts John Peduzzi (Hilton Head, S.C./Hilton Head Christian Academy) and Jacob Macosko (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) form one of the most decorated receiving tandems in the NCAA. In the 2024 campaign, the duo became the first in W&J history to each cross the 1,000 receiving yard mark in the same season. In week one, Peduzzi moved to second all-time in school history for both receiving yards and touchdowns. He stands 10 scores behind Jesse Zubik '18 on the touchdown list. Macosko sits three touchdowns shy of cracking the school's top five all-time.

SPECIAL PLAYERS, SPECIAL TEAMS: The W&J special teams unit has been an impressive group in the 2025 season. Senior kicker/punter Deven Wyandt (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) has already matched a career high with five field goals and set a new career mark with a 39 yard scoring kick. Wyandt is also averaging a career high with a 37.1 average on punts. The Presidents punt block has had a great start, as freshman linebacker Owen Sinclair (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) is tied for third in the country with two blocked kicks. Sophomore wideout Joey DeSabato (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler Area) has also made his mark returning kicks, recording a pair of 50+ yard kick returns thus far.

THE LAST MATCHUP IN DETAIL: The Presidents and Bearcats faced off in week one of last season, as W&J rolled to a 59-6 victory at home. The Presidents opened the scoring with a pair of long scoring passes in the first three minutes, as Jake Pugh '25 found Kobe Derosa (New Castle, Pa./Laurel) for 63 yards and then found Jacob Macosko (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) for 54 yards. After three more scores, Pugh threw for another long touchdown, this time a 69-yarder to John Peduzzi (Hilton Head, S.C./Hilton Head Christian Academy). Another Pugh touchdown run rounded the scoring out to 49-0 at the half. The Presidents pulled the starters after the break, as Dom Barca (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) added a touchdown run, and a field goal ended the scoring for W&J. The Bearcats were able to finally get on the board on their final drive to round out the scoring. The Presidents totaled 578 yards of offense, on the back of 362 first half passing yards from Pugh.

SCOUTING SAINT VINCENT: Saint Vincent football has had a mixed first six games to the 2025 season. The 2-4 Bearcats have shown an affinity to throw the pigskin, as junior signal caller Jake Phillips is the leader in Division III with 20 scoring passes. On the flip side, Phillips has thrown 10 picks through six games and stands behind an offensive line that has allowed 18 sacks, which is tied for the 16th most in the nation. Defensively, the Bearcats have allowed an average of 34.5 points per game, a mark which ranks 194th in the division. The Bearcats have allowed the fourth-most first downs, with opponents moving the chains 143 times in six games.

MOVING THE ROCK: The W&J offense has been a very strong unit this season. The Presidents rank 16th in Division III in total offense, averaging 475.2 yards per game. They are powered by a passing attack that averages 325.4 yards through the air, ranking 11th in the nation. The Presidents' 145 first downs rank fifth in the division, and third when considering teams that have played just five games.

PRESIDENTIAL PRESSURE: The W&J pass rush has been a consistent unit this season. The Presidents rank 12th in Division III with an average of 3.4 team sacks per game. It is a well-balanced unit, with 11 different W&J defenders having at least half a sack on the season. Junior edge rushers Nathaniel Kadosh-Harris (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) and Antoine Smith (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) lead the unit with 3 sacks on the year. Senior defensive tackle Tyler Primrose (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Catholic) ranks third on the team with 2.5 sacks. Sophomore inside linebacker Brock Sherman (Copley, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) has amassed two sacks and leads the team in total tackles with 45.
