Bugosh Nets First Collegiate Hat Trick as W&J Scores Nine Against Thiel

GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson women's soccer team (5-8-2, 2-4-2) scored nine goals against the Thiel Tomcats (0-14-0, 0-8-0) to win 9-1 in Presidents' Athletic Conference Play.

The Presidents controlled the game from the beginning. W&J scored three goals in the first fifteen minutes of this contest as striker tandem Rylin Bugosh (Mount Pleasant, Pa./Mount Pleasant) and Maura Heberle (Hookstown, Pa./South Side Beaver) each added to their season totals. Freshman Katelyn Burley (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) picked up an assist on Bugosh's first goal.

A trio of Presidents each scored their first collegiate goals in the first half. Freshmen Mela Barnhart (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan), Kyra Greenawalt (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward), and Graci Sampson (Titusville, Pa./Titusville) all scored unassisted goals. Additionally, sophomore Rhyan Smith (Coal Center, Pa./Elizabeth-Forward) scored an solo goal prior to halftime to get her first collegiate tally.

W&J went into the halftime interval leading 8-1.  Freshman Ava Capozzoli (Canonsburg, Pa./Chartiers Houston) added to the Presidents tally just before the break.  The Presidents led 20-8 in shots and 3-2 on corner kicks.

The Presidents continued to control possession in the second half.  Bugosh picked up her hat trick goal and her ninth of the season to cap off the scoring for the Presidents in the 69th minute.

Freshman Adysson Davis (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) made her second career appearance and junior Molly Schoch (Burgettstown, Pa./Burgettstown) returned in goal.

The Presidents look to continue their offensive momentum when they return to Alexandre Stadium on Wednesday (Oct. 22) to host the Bethany Bison.  Kickoff will be at 7:00 p.m.
