WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College women's soccer team (6-8-2, 3-4-2) bested the visiting Bethany Bison (1-13-0, 0-9-0) in a 3-0 showing.
Freshman standout
Rylin Bugosh (Mount Pleasant, Pa./Mount Pleasant) got the Presidents on the board first with a goal in the 31
st minute of play in the first half. The solo effort helped the Presidents carry a 1-0 lead into the half. W&J outshot the Bison 9-7 in the opening half and held a 3-1 edge in corner kicks.
The Presidents got right back to its scoring ways in the second half to cap off the victory.
Maura Heberle (Hookstown, Pa./South Side Beaver) scored her sixth goal of the season in the 53
rd minute of play to put W&J up two scores. Heberle has now scored a goal in each of the past three games.
Alexa Taylor (Aliquippa, Pa./OLSH) capped off the scoring in the 74
th minute, 3-0.
Despite the three-goal performance, the Presidents had the opportunity to add even more to the box score but were hindered by being called offside 14 times.
Gianna Patterson (Fox Chapel, Pa./Fox Chapel) played all 90 minutes in goal for the Presidents and collected 11 saves in her second shutout effort of the season.
Women's Soccer returns to action on the road to face the Grove City Wolverines on Saturday (Oct. 25). The match is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start.
