WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College men's soccer team (9-7-2, 5-5-1) closed out the 2025 regular season with a 1-0 win over the Westminster Titans (1-13-4, 1-7-3). The Presidents worked their way to a second-consecutive postseason berth against Westminster in back-to-back seasons.
The Presidents came out firing right from the beginning of the match. W&J had the opening six shots of the contest, all before the 20
th minute. From then on, each team was trading attempts. Freshman
Jonathan Barahona (Leesburg, Va./Tuscarora) scored the lone goal of the match in the 39
th minute off a setup from classmate
Brett Moyer (Hershey, Pa./Hershey), 1-0. At the half, W&J led 8-6 in shots and 2-0 in corners.
The Presidents outshot the Titans 11-3 and 5-0 on corner kicks in the second half. Freshman
Luke Curran (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Saint Jospeh) had a rocket of a shot that was denied by the fingertips of the Titan goalkeeper and the crossbar. The W&J backline closed out the match, confirming the 1-0 shutout.
Junior
Graeme Ewart (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) and Freshman
Logan Joseph (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) each played one half in the shutout performance. Ewart had three saves in the first half, and Joseph had one save in the second. This victory marked the eighth combined shutout win this season for the Presidents.
The Presidents will enter the Presidents' Athletic Conference tournament as the No. 6 seed. W&J will travel to the No. 3 seeded Allegheny Gators on Saturday (Nov. 1) with a 3:00 p.m. kickoff from Meadville.
