GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College women's tennis team (8-2, 4-2) was upended by the Grove City Wolverines (7-2, 6-1) in a weekend clash, 6-1.
The Wolverines started the match clicking on the court as they took all of the doubles matches and the team point with a clean sweep, 1-0.
Grove City continued this momentum in singles action. The Presidents forced one match to a third set and another was one break deciding the set. Freshman
Maya Hamade (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) picked up the lone point for the Presidents with a 3-6, 5-4 win by retirement at the No. 4 singles position. Hamade continues her undefeated season and improves to 10-0 at the No. 4 slot through individual matches.
The Presidents look to regroup when they return to the Janet Swanson Tennis Center on Wednesday (Oct. 8) to take on the Allegheny Gators. Doubles matches will begin at 4:00 p.m. and singles matches will follow afterwards.
