Riley DeRubbo (Washington, Pa./Trinity) has been selected as the Presidents' Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday (Nov. 17).
DeRubbo led the Presidents to a perfect 3-0 opening week, averaging 20.3 points per game while shooting 48.6 percent from the field, 62.5 percent from three-point range, and 93.8 percent from the free-throw line. She scored 24 points with seven rebounds, four steals, and a block in Monday's win at Penn State Behrend. On Friday, she added 18 points on an efficient 60 percent shooting, along with eight rebounds, two assists, a steal, and a block in W&J's victory over Ohio Northern. DeRubbo capped the week by leading the team with 19 points and sinking the decisive three-pointer in the final minute to secure a narrow 66–65 win over Mount Union. For her outstanding performance, she was named Most Valuable Player of the Hampton Inn by Hilton Tip-Off Tournament.
After recording three wins in their opening week of competition, the Presidents hit the road next weekend for a pair of non-conference games. W&J heads to Ohio to take part in the 39th annual Jim Meagle Classic hosted by Marietta College. The Presidents face host Marietta on Friday (Nov. 21) and seventh-ranked Cortland on Saturday (Nov. 22).
