SANFORD, Calif. – The Washington & Jefferson College men's water polo team (1-18) falls to the No. 9 Augustana Vikings (15-7) by a score of 21-4 in game one of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships hosted by Stanford University.
The Vikings got out to a hot start scoring six unanswered goals to start the contest. Senior captain
Aidan Miller (Grove City, Ohio/St. Charles Prep) got the Presidents on the board with two goals in the second period.
Augustana started the third period by expanding their lead with five additional unanswered goals. Freshman
Topher Mitchell (Annapolis, Md./Loyola Blakefield) got the lone goal of the period for W&J. The fourth period was similar to the third. Sophomore
Hector Santaella (Key Biscayne, Fla./Belen Jesuit Prep) scored the fourth goal for the Presidents. Augustana would grab two final goals to round out the scoring.
The Presidents return tomorrow when they play the Wheaton (Mass.) Lyons. The match from Stanford will begin at 8:30 a.m. PST.
