WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Washington and Jefferson College men's lacrosse team were shut out tonight by the Mount Union Purple Raiders, 24-0.
This nonconference loss drops the President's record to 2-3. Mount Union improves its record to an undefeated 4-0.
Zach Mey (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette) led the Presidents with a team-high four shots.
Stephen Moschetta (Washington, Pa./Trinity) had 13 saves in goal for the Presidents. Defensively,
Anthony DeLuca (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) picked up 6 ground balls.
After a slow start for both teams in the early going of the first quarter, the Purple Raiders kicked their offense into gear. Mount Union netted 14 goals before the close of the first half.
With no momentum stirring for the Presidents, the Purple Raiders capitalized with 10 additional goals to close out the 24-0 loss.
The Washington and Jefferson Presidents failed to gain any offensive rhythm being outshot 68 to 16.
The men's lacrosse team returns to action when they face Grove City on Saturday (March 15th), at 6 p.m.
