Men’s Lacrosse Handled by Grove City in PAC Opener

Box Score GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College men's lacrosse team was handled by the hosting Grove City Wolverines to open Presidents' Athletic Conference play, 23-1.
 
The Presidents move to 2-4 overall on the season with an 0-1 record in conference play. The Wolverines uplift their 2025 record to 5-5 overall and 2-0 in PAC play.
 
Senior Paul Shook (Camp Hill, Pa./Trinity) netted the lone goal for W&J on a game-high 12 shots in the difficult outing for the offense. Braden Petrarco (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) dished the assist to Shook on the early-game goal.
 
Defensively, Anthony DeLuca (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) headed the back line with three caused turnovers and one ground ball. Petrarco led the team in picking up ground balls with four on the night.
 
The high-octane Grove City offense jumped out to a rapid 3-0 lead in the first quarter as eight minutes rolled off the clock. W&J mustered a brief response as Petrarco found Shook for their sole score of the game. The initial possession was set up by a Wolverine turnover gathered by Sean McCaffrey (Silver Spring, Md./Albert Einstein).
 
Grove City managed to scored 10-straight goals to head into the half down, 13-1.
 
With minimal push back from the W&J front, Grove City managed to put the game out of reach in the second half. The Wolverines scored 10 additional goals in bunches throughout the third and fourth quarter to take the 23-1 victory.
 
Stephen Moschetta (Washington, Pa./Trinity) got the start in goal for W&J and picked up the loss with 30 minutes of action and four saves. Noah Bracco (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pittsburgh Central Catholic) slotted in for the second half, saving seven shot attempts.
 
W&J remains on the road this Thursday (March 20) to face Earlham. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
