MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson men's lacrosse team (6-8, 3-3) dropped a 19-3 verdict to the Allegheny Gators (5-7, 3-3) on Saturday afternoon.
Three different Presidents scored on the day including
Braden Petrarco (Irwin, Pa./Norwin),
William Fenimore (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) and
Ryan Mey (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette). Petrarco and Mey each had one assist while Fenimore and Petrarco led the team in ground balls with five. Petrarco led the team in caused turnovers with two.
Despite two early goals from the Gators in the opening quarter, W&J netted their first score of the day with 9:08 remaining in the first quarter, down 2-1. Allegheny proceeded to score 16 consecutive goals through the remaining three quarters before the Presidents snapped the scoring barrage.
In the fourth quarter, Petrarco netted an unassisted goal at the 11:16 mark. Fenimore scored a power play goal shortly after, to trim the deficit to 18-3. Allegheny added another goal under the two-minute mark en route to their victory.
Stephen Moschetta (Washington, Pa./Trinity) played all 60 minutes in goal, compiling 17 saves.
The Presidents return to Alexandre Stadium for their final home game of the regular season on Wednesday (April 15). The 4:00 p.m. Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup with Saint Vincent will also double as the team's Morgan's Message Match.
