Men’s Lacrosse Upended in Road Matchup by Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College men's lacrosse team (6-10, 3-5) fell on the road against the Westminster Titans (10-6, 5-3), 20-3.
 
Braden Petrarco (Irwin, Pa./Norwin), William Fenimore (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) and Noah Schratz (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) netted goals on the day for the Presidents. Both Fenimore and Petrarco had assists on the day. Logan Waychoff (Washington, Pa./Trinity) led the team in ground balls with four. Jaxon Specht (Oakdale, Pa./Chartiers Valley), Petrarco and Waychoff all caused turnovers as well.
 
The Titans grew a quick 12-point lead before the Presidents snapped the oppositions' scoring barrage late in the second quarter. Petrarco dished a pass to Fenimore for W&J's first goal of the conference clash with 1:07 remaining in the first half, 12-1.
 
Entering the second half down 13-1, the Presidents were held scoreless in the third quarter while the Titans added on. W&J struck first in the fourth quarter as Petrarco scored on an unassisted goal, 19-2. Schratz scored minutes later off a pass from Fenimore to reduce the Westminster advantage to 19-3. The Titans ultimately remained ahead and picked up the 20-3 win.
 
Stephen Moschetta (Washington, Pa./Trinity) played all 60 minutes in goal and had 19 saves on the day.
 
W&J men's lacrosse will return to the turf on Wednesday (April 22) for their conference and regular season finale against the Franciscan Barons. Action in Steubenville is set for a 7:00 p.m. start.
