NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Washington & Jefferson College men's and women's cross country teams both earned Team Academic Awards from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their work in the classroom during the 2024 season.
The W&J women's team compiled a 3.55 cumulative grade point average (GPA) while the men's squad posted a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 to earn the All-Academic Team Awards. This marks the eighth consecutive year that the W&J women received the award while it is the seventh straight time for the men's XC program.
To qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.
Individually, the Presidents had three student-athletes named All-Academic Athletes by the USTFCCCA. Earning individual recognition were
Brock Pennington (North East, Pa./North East) and
Julian Paul (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) on the men's side. For the women,
Claire Anderson (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown) received the honor.
To qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.
