PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College men's lacrosse team was bested in Presidents' Athletic Conference play against the Chatham Cougars, 28-7.

The Presidents fall to 4-6 overall and 0-2 in conference play. The Cougars climb to 6-4 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

Braden Petrarco (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) and Paul Shook (Camp Hill, Pa./Trinity) led the Presidents offensively with tow goals and two assists each. Colin Golebiewski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) caused the sole turnover today for the Presidents with two shots. Austin Hopkins (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) and Petrarco tied for a team-high two ground balls.

Chatham got on the board early and often in the opening quarter of regulation, rattling off the first three scores of the weekend contest. Shook answered at the 12:07 mark with W&J's first score of the evening, down 3-1. The Cougars proceeded to score eight-consecutive goals to close out the opening period, 11-1.

Chatham added five additional goals in the opening portion of the second quarter before Shook found the back of the net again off a dish from Petrarco. Minutes after, Mey netted his first score of the night with a man-up goal off the pass from Petrarco, 16-3. A goal by Fenimore with 48 seconds remaining closed the first half of action, Cougars up 21-4.

Out of the break, each side traded goals to open the renewed half. An unassisted effort by Petrarco brought the score to 22-5. With some brief momentum, Batche found the back of the net at the 8:06 mark off the feed from Fenimore. Chatham closed out the third with three-straight goals in response, 25-6.

Chatham scored three goals in the fourth to W&J's one to take the 28-7 victory over the Presidents.
