MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College men's tennis team (8-10, 4-4) dropped their final Presidents' Athletic Conference match to the defending conference champion Allegheny (18-6, 8-0).
The Gators picked up the first team point of the match through partnered play.
Abhinav Yarramaneni (Mountain View, Calif./Los Altos) and
Srivatsa Bellamkonda (Sewickley, Pa./North Allegheny) played the Presidents' closest match at No. 2 doubles, dropping a 6-2 decision.
Allegheny completed their sweep in individual play, winning all six matches to take the 7-0 victory.
Alex Duing (South Park, Pa./South Park) mustered a competitive second set at No. 2 singles but ultimately fell, 6-0, 6-3. Bellamkonda suffered the same fate, dropping his No. 5 singles match, 6-0, 6-3.
Aarav Surapaneni (Coraopolis, Pa./Moon Area) lost in straight sets at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-2.
W&J heads home to the Janet Swanson Tennis Center to host Penn State Altoona on Monday (April 21). Doubles play is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m.
