Women’s Lacrosse Runs Winning Streak to Seven with Victory Over Bethany

WASHINGTON, Pa. – Ella Phillips (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) and Caleigh Bogats (Oakdale, Pa./Chartiers Valley) reached major milestones to help the Washington & Jefferson College women's lacrosse team to a 23-2 victory over visiting Bethany College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference game on Friday evening. Phillips became just the third President in program history to reach 200 ground balls during her collegiate career. Later in the game, Bogats surpassed 100 ground balls in her career.

The win extends the Presidents' winning streak to seven games. W&J improves to 7-1 in PAC play and 9-4 overall. The victory helps W&J lock up the number two seed in the upcoming PAC Tournament, which begins later this month. The Presidents remained perfect at Alexandre Stadium, as they improve to 5-0 in home games in 2025.

Anna Kloehn (Canton, Ohio/Jackson) matched her career high with a game-high six goals. Mya Bolinda (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) filled the stat sheet with a game-high eight points (four goals, four assists), three draw controls and two ground balls.

Bogats and Holland posted six points and five points, respectively. Holland finished with four goals, an assist, three caused turnovers and three draw controls. Bogats tacked on two goals, four assists, three ground balls and three draw controls. Avery Byard (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) added a hat trick and three draw controls.

Haley Lawyer (Glenside, Pa./Archbishop Wood) posted game highs in draw controls (5) and ground balls (4) for the defensive unit. Sammy Hartz (Ijamsville, Md./Oakdale) added four ground balls and two caused turnovers.

The Presidents scored nine times in the opening quarter of play to take a 9-2 lead after 15 minutes. W&J pushed the lead into double digits behind a six-goal output in the second quarter. The Presidents rolled to the win behind three scores in the third and five more in the fourth. W&J held the Bison scoreless over the final 52-plus minutes of the game.

Gianna Baker (Carlisle, Pa./Trinity) made four saves over 60 minutes in the victory.

The Presidents held statistical advantages in shots (34-7), ground balls (24-8), draw controls (18-10) and successful clears (11-3).

W&J wraps up the regular season with Senior Day versus Franciscan University of Steubenville next Saturday (April 26). Start time is scheduled for 3 p.m. W&J will honor Lawyer and Phillips before the match.
