GREENWOOD, Ind. -- Six Washington & Jefferson College student-athletes gained spots on the 2025 Academic All-District® Men's At-Large Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom.
The at-large category includes student-athletes whose sports aren't in separate categories during the school year. The list of sports that represented W&J includes golf, water polo and wrestling.
The six representatives to make the list were
Andrew Platt (Somerset, Pa./Somerset),
Alexander Robins (Buckinghamshire, England/Bedford School),
Casey Smith (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata),
Taylor Smith (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata),
Kailer Spicer (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) and
Hunter Swedish (Cranberry Twp., Pa./Seneca Valley).
Platt and Robins were both recognized from the men's golf program. Platt holds a 4.00 cumulative grade-point average as a chemistry major. The junior golfer finished in a tie for sixth place following the conclusion of the Fall PAC Championships, having shot a total score of 151 (+7) through 36 holes. This marks his second Academic All-District honor.
Robins picks up his first CSC Academic All-District honor after joining the men's golf program this season. Robins holds a 3.67 GPA as an accounting major. Robins made an instant impact for W&J in his first season as a President, being selected as an All-PAC Honorable Mention. Robins wrapped the Spring PAC Championships tied for 12
th with a four-round score of 309 (+25).
Spicer represented the men's water polo team, earning his first Academic All-District laurels. Spicer holds a 3.79 GPA as a computing & information studies major. Spicer finished his junior season as a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Delfina All-MPSF East Honorable Mention. He also was named to the 2024 MPSF/6-8 Sports Men's Water Polo All-Academic Team.
The Smith brothers and Swedish each represented the wrestling program.
C. Smith currently holds a 3.72 GPA as an education major. In his first full season on the mat, he posted a 23-5 record. Smith finished as the PAC 157-pound champion and took third at NCAA Regionals to advance to the NCAA National Championships. At his first Nationals appearance, Smith finished with a 1-2 record and was named an National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-American.
Brother and teammate T. Smith holds a 3.98 cumulative GPA as an education major. Smith followed up his historic freshman season with another strong year as a sophomore, finishing with a 16-3 record. Smith repeated as the NCAA Division III Region IV 149-pound champion and PAC 149-pound champion to advance to the NCAA National Championships for the second consecutive season. He posted a 1-2 record at Nationals and was named an NWCA Scholar All-American for the second-straight season.
Swedish picks up his second CSC Academic All-District honor. Swedish graduated Cum Laude with a 3.59 cumulative GPA and a degree in computing & information studies. This season, he racked up a career-best 28 wins (28-7 overall record) and concluded his career with 94 victories as a President. Swedish was named the PAC Most Valuable Wrestler after winning his third conference title in the 141-pound bracket. He also collected his fourth NWCA Scholar All-American honor following his senior campaign.
The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
To be eligible for a CSC All-District nomination, student-athletes must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA or higher and be a sophomore, junior or senior. In addition, the student-athletes must make valuable contributions to their respective programs athletically.
