Women’s Soccer Freshmen Push Presidents Past Fighting Muskies

NEW CONCORD, Ohio - The Washington & Jefferson College women's soccer put on a strong offensive performance to open their 2025 campaign with a 2-0 victory over the Muskingum Fighting Muskies (0-1).

The Presidents were creating chances right from the beginning of the game. Despite a scoreless deadlock at halftime, the Presidents fired off nine shots and worked four corner kicks.

Out of the half, freshman Rylin Bugosh (Mount Pleasant, Pa./Mount Pleasant) snapped the scoreless contest with her first collegiate goal off an assist from Audrey Chapman (Elkins Park, Pa./Phil-Mont Christian Academy) at the 63:03 mark. With under three minutes left in regulation, Bridget Callihan (Monongahela, Pa./Ringgold) added her first collegiate goal on an unassisted effort to ensure W&J's 2-0 season opening victory.

W&J held advantages in shots (21-19), shots on goal (8-6) and corner kicks (5-2).

Molly Schoch (Burgettstown, Pa./Burgettstown) recorded her first shutout of the season with six saves on the night in a full 90 minutes in goal.

The Presidents look to take this offensive momentum back to Washington, Pa. as they host the Marietta Pioneers on Tuesday (Sept. 2) at Alexandre Stadium. The home opener is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
