WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College men's soccer team (4-1-1) earned its fourth victory of the season in a midweek match against the Pitt-Greensburg Bobcats (3-3-2), 2-0.
Each side took a scoreless draw into the half following the first period of play. W&J outshot Pitt-Greensburg 9-2 and held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.
W&J broke the standoff in the 54
th minute as junior captain
Jimmy Gogol (Westminster, Md./Westminster) netted a one timer past the Bobcats goalkeeper to put the Presidents up, 1-0.
Michael Ngugi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) put the game away in the 87
th minute, scoring his first collegiate goal with a chip over the opposing keeper, 2-0.
Graeme Ewart (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) and
Logan Joseph (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) each split time in the combined shutout. Ewart started the contest and finished with one save. Joseph completed the match without facing a shot on target.
The Presidents remain at Alexandre Stadium to host Mount Aloysius on Saturday (Sept. 20). First touch is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start.
