WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College men's soccer team (4-2-1) fell 4-1 to the Mount Aloysius Mounties (6-2) in their final nonconference matchup of the season.

Mount Aloysius scored in the eighth minute to start the scoring during the first half.  The Mounties continued their offensive push and scored a second on an own goal by the Presidents from a corner kick.  The Presidents tried to gain back some of the momentum to put two shots on target.  The Mounties ended the first half up 4-0 and with a 7-3 advantage on shots.

The Presidents showed some fight in the second half.  Junior captain Jimmy Gogol (Westminster, Md./Westminster) scored the Presidents' lone goal in the 62nd minute to tally his third score of the season.  The Presidents continued to play a strong second half and outshot the Mounties 11-4 in the final 45 minutes, finishing the contest with 14 total attempts.  Ultimately, the first-half deficit was too much for the Presidents.

Graeme Ewart (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) and Logan Joseph (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) each split time in goal for W&J. Joseph finished with two saves while Ewart contributed one save.

The Presidents look to regroup when they open Presidents' Athletic Conference play on Wednesday (Sept. 24) against the Geneva Golden Tornadoes.  Kickoff from Beaver Falls will take place at 7:00 p.m.
