Men’s Soccer Falls in Conference Opener

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson men's soccer team (4-3-1, 0-1) fell 1-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference opener to the Geneva Golden Tornadoes (2-5, 1-0).

The Golden Tornadoes changed the game early when they scored the lone goal of the contest in the fourth minute.  The Presidents' back line settled in and held strong for the remainder of the half.  At the half, the Golden Tornadoes had 10 total shots with three on target.

Presidents' back line continued holding strong to not allow a second goal by the Golden Tornadoes in the second half.  Geneva only added five total shots throughout the second half, with one making it on target.

In goal for the Presidents, junior Graeme Ewart (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) picked up two saves, and freshman Logan Joseph (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) contributed one save.  Each goalkeeper saw 45 minutes of action.

The Presidents look to regroup this weekend as they return to Alexandre Stadium on Saturday (Sept. 27) when they take on the Hiram Terriers in conference play.  Kickoff will be at 1:00 p.m.
