Men’s Soccer Played to Scoreless Draw in First Conference Meeting with Hiram

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College men's soccer team (4-3-2, 0-1-1) ended a weekend match with the Hiram Terriers (5-3-1, 1-0-1) in a scoreless draw, 0-0.
 
During the first scoreless half, the Presidents held a 5-3 advantage in shots while at a disadvantage in corner kicks through a 3-1 differential. Each side registered one save in the opening half.
 
Following the halftime break, each side acquired multiple yellow cards to open the half. Both units compiled five shots each in the second half. Hiram held a 2-1 advantage in saves but the Presidents held the 3-1 edge in corner kicks.
 
Owen Rowlands (Hazle Township, Pa./Wyoming Seminary Prep), Zach Casey (Glen Allen, Va./Deep Run) and Jacek Piekut (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) each finished the afternoon with two shots. Jimmy Gogol (Westminster, Md./Westminster), Brian Lowry (Wenonah, N.J./Gloucester) and Rowlands recorded the Presidents only shots on target.
 
Graeme Ewart (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) got the start in goal, picking up one of the Presidents two saves. Logan Joseph (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) came in or the second half, picking up the other save in the final 45 minutes of action.
 
Men's Soccer returns to Alexandre Stadium on Wednesday (Oct. 1) for a meeting with the Franciscan Barons. Opening touch is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
