Women’s Soccer Upended by Geneva in PAC Opener

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College women's soccer team (3-5-0, 0-1-0) was upended in its Presidents' Athletic Conference opener against the Geneva Golden Tornadoes (2-3-3, 1-0-0), 1-0.

The Presidents opened the first half of play with aggressive offense, outshooting the Golden Tornadoes 8-1 while holding a 2-0 advantage in corner kicks. Geneva saved all three shots on target in the opening half to ride a 0-0 stalemate into the break.

Geneva scored the lone goal of the match in the 50th minute which was held for the remainder of the half. The Presidents kept the pressure on in the second half, still holding the advantage in shots (9-6) and corner kick opportunities (4-0) to no avail.

Molly Schoch (Burgettstown, Pa./Burgettstown) played all 90 minutes in goal, picking up one save. Alexa Taylor (Aliquippa, Pa./OLSH) led the team in shots with four total and two shots on goal.
